Oil rubbed bronze mirror– This finish can easily be create with the right materials that effectively tone or completely mask the bright yellow of “craft brass” finish found on most new brass and brass plate fixtures. To create a faux oil rubbed bronze finish over bright yellow brass give a vintage or antique look for pieces that will stand out too hard in the otherwise understated and elegant color schemes.

Put on rubber gloves. Gently rub the surface of the fixture with steel wool to remove any polyurethane or wax to make faux oil rubbed bronze mirror. Rinse the mirror with clear water and dried to remove varnish remover. Mix one part antiquing solution with 10 parts water at room temperature in a glass or plastic dish large enough to flood the armature. Placing the armature in the mixture and agitate to remove any air bubbles on the surface of the luminaries, resulting in uneven antique.

See the color deepen until the cap is satisfactory. Remove the fixture and immediately rinse under running water. Drying rack completely to prevent wet spots from continue to dark. Buff luminaries with a wax top coat to protect the new finish and prevent any further reaction between the solution and antique brass of the fitting. Add additional wax at least once a year to protect the faux oil rubbed bronze mirror finish.
